Curious about how your course could be made more accessible to all of your students?
Until February 8, UBC is running a pilot on an accessibility tool for Canvas called Ally — and you’re invited to try it out and share your experience. Ally provides instructors with detailed feedback on the accessibility of their course materials by providing ratings based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 standard. Ally also suggests ways of improving accessibility and provides course materials in alternate formats for students (for example, an audio file of a Word document).
How to participate
Ally provides instructors with feedback on the accessibility of course materials and can help you make your courses more accessible.
If you’re interested in exploring Ally, please fill in our brief form, and we’ll enrol you in a sample Canvas course with Ally enabled. If you’re an instructor, we can also copy one of your courses and enable Ally in that copy (time permitting). The final day of the pilot is Friday, February 8, 2019, so if you’re interested in trying Ally, please sign up by Sunday, February 3, 2019.
As part of our pilot, we’re seeking feedback on Ally. Once you’ve tried Ally, we’ll ask you to complete a 5-minute survey.
